We are open Tuesday thru Saturday, 10 am – 6 pm
The core idea behind the gallery is Beauty with an edge, Beauty with strong intellectual reason(ing) that ensures it from decoration and justifies its longevity. As I've learned from the enlightening story of collectors Sally and Victor Ganz the aim is to surround oneself with art that every day posits new questions and new answers. Thus, a return to Beauty and the discovery of a new typology of Beauty are what I hope to achieve.
I like to think in terms of patterns and themes. Not style. The concept of signature style is of course fundamental: we all know a Picasso as soon as we see one but even Picasso had at least four very different signature styles. Thus, he surprised himself and by doing so us. A frequent remark from those who come to view the exhibitions, is: "I never know what to expect" And this makes me happy. In our three viewing rooms (aside from the main exhibition room) we hang side-by-side works that ideally shouldn't work together but surprisingly fit as if they had been conceived that way.
All the artists in the program have different ideas, visions but trying to express these ideas, visions beautifully is their link. The works make sense together as they do alone. They are kinetic, enveloping, inspire curiosity and encourage the viewer to pause and ask questions about the how? And why? Art is all about talking; we should never stop talking it. At the gallery we talk with anybody who's willing to give us: time.
I hope you'll visit us and please feel free to explore every room in the gallery. While we do like chocolate cake and linzer tarts, we do not like closed doors.
A presto spero,
Sara Tecchia
